VICTORY OVER ALGOMA PUTS MARAUDERS ON A FOUR GAME WN STREAK

The McMaster Marauders men's basketball team cruised to a 96 -78 victory over the Algoma Thunderbirds on Friday night.

Jordan Henry led all scorers with 25 points, six assists, three steals and three rebounds. Keeping pace with Henry, Mike Demangus put up 17 of his own, while Tristan Lindo knocked down 11.

The game was off to a slow start for the Marauders, with three points separating the two teams in the first quarter, it was Algoma that held the lead at 19-21. The second quarter was a similar narrative, as the half wrapped with a score of 38-44 in the Thunderbirds favor.

The Marauders kept knocking down shots, until they found their footing in the second half. It wasn't until Christian Bentley put up a jumper with 2:24 left on the clock in the third quarter that the squad was able to grab the lead. In the third, the team locked away 33 points while holding the Thunderbirds to 18.

A fourth quarter serge put the Marauders in a good spot to walk away with the game, as they did. Sefa Otchere played hard and in the fourth alone put away 10 points, three steals, a rebound and an assist. As a unit, the Marauders dug out a 20 - 6 point run in the last quarter to seal the victory 96-78.

With another win to the streak, the squad is seeded second in the OUA West with a solid 4-1 record.

NEXT UP: The Marauders will play again tomorrow back at the George Leach Centre for their second game of the two game series in Sault St. Marie. Tip off is set for 6:00PM
