LEAD SLIPS AWAY AS MARAUDERS FALL AFTER THREE UNANSWERED SETS

The McMaster Marauders women's volleyball team fell on the road to the No. 10 nationally ranked Waterloo Warriors 3-1 (25-22, 27-29, 23-25, 21-25) on Saturday night.

After taking the first set by a three-point margin, the Marauders forced the home team to 29 in the second, never dropping a set by more than four points throughout the match.

The Marauders gave up crucial points in the final two sets, committing 26 errors in tonight's matchup compared to the Warriors 19.

Both teams underperformed on offense with the black and gold making good on .192 of all attacks, while maroon fared no better with .179.

Fourth-year middle Hailey Kranics had a most performance going errorless with 17 kills, good enough for a .654 hit percentage.

Fellow senior Jessie Nairn did one better than last night, establishing a new season-high with 19 kills tonight to go with 3 service aces and four blocks.

After a career-high in kills last night, Rebecca Maxwell kept the Warriors at bay with a game-high 19 digs.

The Marauders pick up their fourth straight loss and are now 8-9 on the season sitting in fifth-place of the OUA West division, while Warriors hold third spot on a 10-5 record.

NEXT UP: The Marauders take next week off before closing out their regular season with a pair of games on the road, beginning with the Western Mustangs at 6pm on Friday, Feb. 21st.
