Men's Rugby: Five Nab Tries as Marauders Open with 48-12 Win over Paladins

Rookie fly half Nathan Pinder notched the first two tries of his McMaster career Sunday

Opening their OUA campaign on the road against a stubborn RMC Paladins side Sunday, the Marauders broke the match open in the second half to score a convincing 48-12 victory.

McMaster's lead was just eight points at the halftime break, with RMC notching a try late in the first to make it a 15-7 proposition. But the Marauders put it beyond reach in the second, outscoring the Paladins 33-5 to roll to a season-opening victory.

Rookie fly half Nathan Pinder, playing in his hometown of Kingston, Ont., opened his McMaster career with a pair of tries in the win, while veteran Tyler Gagne also crossed the line twice.

Ryan Matthews, Aidan Muldoon and Jack McRogers added single tries, while Cole Brown converted five times and made good on a penalty goal to account for 13 points.

NEXT UP: The Marauders return home to Back 10 Field to play host to the Brock Badgers on Saturday, September 14. That match gets underway at 3:00 p.m.
