Men's Rugby: Marauders Craft Eight Tries in 56-12 Win over Blues

Alex Kropman broke out for his first three tries as a Marauder Saturday

Keeping themselves well-positioned in the OUA East, the Marauders made the most of a match against the division's anchors Saturday.

McMaster piled up eight tries against the winless Varsity Blues to notch a 56-12 victory and move to 3-1 on the season in Toronto.

Rookie centre Alex Kropman had a milestone night, recording his first career try as a Marauder before adding two more for good measure. He was joined on the scoresheet by fellow centre Tyler Gagne, who crossed the try line twice, eight man Lachlan Maclean, fullback Scott Leonard and lock Galen Frosted.

Scrum half Cole Brown converted three tries and added a pair of penalty goals for 12 points, while Nate Pinder and Jack McRogers added converts of their own to complete the scoring for the Marauders.

Their 56 points scored and 44-point margin of victory were both season highs for McMaster, who have two games left to play in the OUA's six-game regular season.

NEXT UP: The Marauders return home to welcome the unbeaten Queen's Gaels to Ten Acre Field on Saturday, October 5 for the penultimate game of their season. That game gets underway at 3:00 p.m.
