Men's Volleyball: Mac’s Offence Purrs in Sweep of Windsor

Reigning OUA Player of the Year Matt Passalent had 20 kills and no errors in the win

A night after opening their OUA season with a difficult and defensive contest against Western, McMaster brought a new offensive level against Windsor Saturday and set a pace that the Lancers could not keep.

Hitting .310 as a group with just 14 errors over the course of three sets, the Marauders picked up a no-nonsense, 25-20, 25-21, 25-20 win at Burridge Gym to improve to 2-0 at the conclusion of the first weekend of the OUA season.

Veteran right side Matt Passalent enjoyed one of the most fruitful matches of his career, hitting 20 kills without an error on 27 attempts (.741) while adding two aces for a match high 22 points.

He was not the only attacker who found his form on Saturday, as rookie left side Sam Cooper hit .333 with six kills and just two errors on 12 attempts, adding a pair of aces and a solo block for nine points.

Holding down the setter spot from start to finish, David Doty amassed 36 assists and was McMaster's leading backcourt defender with seven digs.

NEXT UP: The Marauders head to Kingston on Friday, November 1 to contest a rematch of the OUA final against the Queen's Gaels. That match is slated to begin at 8:00 p.m. and can be seen live and on demand on OUA.tv.
