Men's Rugby: Marauders Late Comeback Attempt Falls Short in 30-15 Loss to Warriors

McMaster suffered its second loss of the season Saturday

With their alumni looking on, the Marauders came out on the losing end of an absorbing match on Back 10 Field Saturday.

Within a try until the late stages, McMaster saw Waterloo pull away for a 30-15 win, suffering its second loss of 2018 in the process.

The duo of Will Davidson and Mitch Richardson had tries for the Marauders in the losing effort, with Tyler Gagne adding a penalty goal and Cole Brown converting Richardson's try.

Scoring a try in the opening minutes, the Warriors held the lead throughout Saturday's contest, but the home side threatened late in the second half when Richardson crossed under the posts and Brown made good on the convert to bring the Marauders within a single score at 20-15.

That momentum proved to be short-lived, however, and after a lengthy injury break broke up play for nearly a half hour, the Warriors put the result beyond doubt with a converted try and penalty goal.

NEXT UP: The Marauders will look to rebound in six days' time, when they return to the friendly confines of Back 10 Field to welcome the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff.
