Men's Basketball: Young Marauders No Match for #1 Ravens

Connor Gilmore posted 20 points in a losing effort

Their trip to Ottawa came to a disappointing end Saturday, as the Marauders quickly fell of the pace of the nation's top-ranked team to slump to a second straight defeat.

Trailing by 11 through a quarter at the Ravens Nest, McMaster was unable to stem the tide and eventually fell 115-62 to move to 4-5 in OUA play.

Veteran forward Connor Gilmore led the Marauders with 20 points in the loss, hitting three of six attempts from three-point range and adding seven points from nine trips of the free throw line.

Rookie Sefa Otchere continued his recent emergence by notching 16 points on six of 10 shooting from the field and four of six from the charity stripe.

McMaster shot just 29 per cent in the loss, and struggled particularly in the opening half, where the Marauders made seven of 30 attempts from the field.

The second half saw an uptick in efficiency, as Mac bumped up to 34 per cent shooting, but it was too little, too late to affect the result at the Ravens Nest.

NEXT UP: McMaster wraps up the 2018 calendar year by returning to Burridge Gym to battle the York Lions and Queen's Gaels on Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1. Both games will tip off at 8:00 p.m.
