Women's Volleyball: Marauders Make Quick Work of Paladins for Second Straight Win

McMaster held RMC to a negative hitting percentage in Saturday's sweep

A day after breaking their early-season goose egg against the Queen's Gaels, the Marauders kept momentum headed their way at Burridge Gym Saturday.

McMaster handily outplayed RMC to race to a straight sets (25-16, 25-8, 25-13) win and move to .500 on the young OUA campaign.

For their part, the hosts had their most efficient offensive night of the season thus far, hitting .263 as a group with 38 kills versus 13 errors, and were led by the attacking breakout of rookie right side Avery McConkey, who led the team and the match with eight kills and nine points.

The Stratford, Ont. native hit .294 in the win, adding a solo block to her eight kills on 17 attempts, while committing just three errors.

Veteran Katie Zutautas made the most of the start at setter, with 30 assists and a a team high of 12 digs as she put her stamp on the Marauders passing throughout the three-set encounter.

Able to work through the majority of his roster Saturday, Marauders Tim Louks gave extended playing time to rookie left side Maya Sokolowski and defensive specialist Felicia Malavolta, who assumed the libero's shirt from Zoe Mackintosh in the final set.
