A basketball season is full of peaks and valleys, and after hitting a peak the night before, the McMaster men's basketball team tumbled into a valley, losing a 103-63 game to the Laval Rouge et Or on Friday night.
It was an inspired Laval squad that started the game and after the opening 10 minutes, the team from Quebec was well in control, holding a 33-10 lead.
The Marauders were never able to make any sustained run to cut into the Laval lead and, while they played closer to their guests in each of the next three quarters, Laval won every period on its way to the big win.
The Marauders got a better game from senior guard David McCulloch, who finished with 19 to lead Mac, after going scoreless in the previous contest. Miles Seward added 15 for McMaster.
The Marauders will wrap up this three-game home stand against the Memorial University Seahawks on Saturday night at 7-pm.
