MARAUDER BASKETBALL TEAMS RESUME OUA COMPETITION

With exams and holidays behind them, the McMaster men's and women's basketball teams are back in action on Wednesday, January 13 when they travel to Waterloo to clash with the Warriors.

The McMaster women's team will start OUA play as the No. 7 ranked team in Canada, after playing three tough games at the Laval invitational tournament last month. At 5 and 2, the Marauders are in first place in the OUA Central Division.  The Warriors women's team is looking for its first league win of the year.  Tip-off for the women's game is set for 6-pm.

On the men's side, the Marauders  head to Waterloo and will be facing their old coach Justin Gunter for the first time.  Gunter took over as the Warriors' head coach last spring after spending seven years on the McMaster coaching staff.   His familiarity with the McMaster line-up should mean the Warriors will have their opponents well scouted.

McMaster sits in the 6th-ranked spot in the CIS top-ten and the team's  5 and 2 record is good for second-place in the OUA Central Division, one game behind the Brock Badgers.  Waterloo will bring a record of  1 and 6 into the game versus the Marauders, with the action starting at 8-pm.

While both Warrior squads are still learning how to win, there should be a large partisan crowd at Waterloo's Physical Activities Complex (PAC) for the McMaster games, as the facility underwent significant renovations over the recent holidays, including the installation of new bleachers.  With the Waterloo faithful coming out to check out the facelift given to the PAC, the Marauders will have to contend with a hostile environment and opposing teams motivated to christen the renovated facility with victory.

McMaster radio CFMU 93.3 FM has all the Marauder basketball action live and the games are also available via live streaming at OUA.tv.
