Box Score The McMaster men's basketball team went to York University on Saturday night and defeated the Lions 88-74 to improve its OUA record to four wins and two losses.
Much like the previous night versus Queen's, McMaster trailed after the opening 10 minutes as York held a 22-21 lead. But as they did on Friday, the Marauders dominated the second and the third quarters, building up a 22-point advantage at 74-52 after 30 minutes.
York tried to make a run in the final quarter, but could only get within 14, which was the final margin of victory.
Leon Alexander was a force for the Marauders, making 8 of 11 shots from the floor and 9 of 11 from the charity stripe to finish with 26 points. Trevon McNeil dropped 17, Aaron Redpath 14 and Troy Joseph 10 for the Maroon. Top shooter for York was Jayden Fredrick with 15.
As a team McMaster shot a solid 50% (26 of 52) from the floor and a sizzling 88% (29 of 33) from the free throw line.
The Marauders will next play division rival, the Guelph Gryphons, on Saturday, November 28 in the Burridge Gym with tip-off set for 3 p.m.
