For a second successive day, McMaster saw a flurry of goals on the road, this time coming out on the winning end in Windsor. They responded well to a Lancer equalizer, retaking the lead in the 86th minute to snap a three-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory.
Taylor Lambert and Jessie Faber had goals for the Marauders (3-5-3), who stand sixth in the OUA West Division and in control of a playoff spot for the time being. Meanwhile, the Lancers fall to 4-7, even on points with McMaster but a place behind on the strength of winning percentage.
There was little to speak of in the opening half of Sunday's match, with the two teams scoreless entering the break, but once the deadlock was broken, the two teams sprung to life. Lambert claimed the game's first goal in the 65th minute, with Windsor answering just eight minutes later through Paiten Stephen. McMaster was not done, however, and veteran striker Jessie Faber added her name to the score sheet with the decisive marker in the 84th minute to seal the vital three points for Mac.
The Marauders return to Ron Joyce Stadium this coming weekend, as they play host to the Algoma Thunderbirds on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11.
