The McMaster football team makes its longest road trip of the 2015 season as it heads down highway 401 to play the Windsor Lancers. The Marauders will continue to nurse some minor injuries and there will again be some new faces in the McMaster line-up as Coach Stefan Ptaszek continues to juggle his roster.
The Lancers are coming off their first win of the year and, with a large Windsor Homecoming Crowd cheering them on, will be trying to start a winning streak.
The Marauders need a win to keep alive their chances of a top-two finish in the OUA, and a first-round playoff bye.
For those who can't make the trip to Windsor for Saturday's Marauder game, there are some options to follow the team as Hamilton's Cable 14 will be picking up the Windsor-area Cogeco telecast and showing the game to Hamilton customers. Check your local listings.
The game will also be available via live stream on OUA.TV and the Marauder radio crew from TSN 1150 will have all the action with the pre-game show at 12:30 and kick-off at 1-PM.
MCMASTER VS. WINDSOR GAME NOTES-- LAST MATCH-UP: The Marauders and Windsor have not played since the 2012 season, when the Lancers came to Hamilton for McMaster's Homecoming. En route to an undefeated OUA conference season the Marauders took the contest 39-18.
- LAST GAME: The Marauders (3-1) won their Homecoming game 67-10 over the York Lions last week. The Marauder win over York kept the team at No. 7 in the CIS top-ten. Meanwhile, Windsor (1-4) travelled to Waterloo and got its first win of the season, defeating the Laurier Golden Hawks 22-18.
- HISTORY: Since the OUA started in 1971, McMaster leads the head to head match-up with Windsor, having won 27 games and losing 11. McMaster and Windsor have met twice in the post-season with the Marauders taking both contests in 2003 and 2005. The last Windsor win over McMaster was a 37-0 decision in 1996. Since then the Marauders have won the last 15 games between the two teams.
- HOMECOMING: This will be the third consecutive week that the Marauders have played in front of a Homecoming crowd. Two weeks ago McMaster travelled to Guelph for the Gryphon Homecoming and last week the Marauders were in front of their home fans for McMaster's 79th Homecoming celebration.
- RECORD WATCH: Danny Vandervoort has become the career leader in TD receptions for McMaster Football. His two TD grabs last week give him 21 career touchdown catches for his career to move past Vaughn Swart (2000-05) and Matt Peressini (2007-11) who previously shared the McMaster record of 19 TD catches in a career.
- RECORD WATCH II: Asher Hastings tossed four more touchdown passes versus York to give him 19 for his Marauder career. Hastings has moved into the top-ten of the Marauder record book for career TD passes, and his 17 scoring tosses so far in 2015 puts him 5th on the single season leader list for scoring tosses. Hastings is on pace to shatter the McMaster single season record for scoring strikes of 21 held by Marshall Ferguson set in 2013. He also has a chance to break the OUA single season record for TD passes of 25.
- RECORD WATCH III: Max Cameron, Danny Vandervoort and Josh Vandeweerd have all moved into the Marauder top-ten for career catches with 102, 98 and 90 career receptions respectively.
- VIDEO EXPOSURE: McMaster Football has already appeared twice so far this season in the TSN Sportscentre Top-Ten, with Aaron Baker's phenomenal training camp catches making the grade and Mitch O'Connor's quick kick vs. Ottawa that Danny Vandervoort caught for a TD also making the list, as well as being the OUA Play of the Week.
