MEN'S BASKETBALL BAGS WIN OVER BADGERS

The McMaster men's basketball team overcame a slow start to earn a 105-80 win over the Brock Badgers in OUA Central division play on Wednesday night in St. Catharines.

The Badgers jumped out to an early 10-6 lead to start the game and were up 16-15 when McMaster ended the quarter on a 15-2 run to take a 30-18 lead.

Brock shaved a basket off the Mac lead in the second quarter and at halftime the Marauder advantage was 45-35.

In the third quarter McMaster saw the lead grow to 58-42, before the Badgers got on a roll and managed to reduce the deficit to 10 at 63-53.  Seemingly with the momentum, Brock made a couple of turnovers before the quarter ended and the Marauders pounced with a late 9-0 surge to take a 72-53 lead into the final period.

The fourth quarter saw McMaster get some sweet shooting from Joe Rocca, who hit back-to-back 3-pointers and the lead got up to as much as 28.  McMaster was able to clear the bench and close out the 25 point victory.

McMaster had five players score in double digits, led by Rocca with 25.  Leon Alexander added 20 while Rohan Boney registered a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.  Johneil Simpson led Brock with 18.

Next up for the Marauders is a home date with York, this Saturday November 22nd at 2 p.m.
