BASKETBALL MARAUDERS WIN 8TH STRAIGHT IN OUA

Box Score Playing at Wilfrid Laurier is never an easy chore for the McMaster men's basketball team, but using a solid team effort the Marauders managed to beat the Golden Hawks 87-69 on Saturday afternoon.

Taking advantage of a size advantage in the post, McMaster went inside to Nathan McCarthy and Taylor Black to grab a 20-15 lead after one quarter.

Currently sitting third in the OUA West, Laurier stepped up its game in the second quarter and held McMaster to two baskets through the first three minutes while scoring 10 points of its own to go ahead 25-24. That certainly got the Marauders' attention and they outscored the Hawks 15-7 from that point to take a 39-32 lead at intermission.

The third quarter saw Laurier try to trim the Marauder lead, but McMaster was able to maintain its cushion and finished the quarter strong to bump the advantage to 63-50 with one quarter to go.

Marauder Adam Presutti started the fourth quarter with a trey and knocked down a second long-bomb moments later and the Maroon lead expanded to 20. Presutti scored 10 points in the quarter and Laurier never got closer than 14 after the early fourth quarter barrage, allowing McMaster to close out the win.

McMaster had five players hit for double figures in a very balanced attack with McCarthy tops at 18, followed by Joe Rocca with 16, Black with 15, Presutti with 12, and Rohan Boney with 11. Top shooter for Laurier was Max Allin with 16.

The win was the eighth straight for the first-place Marauders in league play, dating back to November. They will next take their 11-3 record to play at Guelph on Wednesday, January 22nd.
