PETTIT, OFFER AND HENDERSON RECOGNIZED AT PRESIDENT'S AWARD CEREMONY

Three staff members of the McMaster Department of Athletics and Recreation were recognized for their work at Tuesday's President's Awards ceremony.

Andrew Pettit, Sports Leagues and Camps Coordinator, received an individual award, while Parrish Offer – Manager of Marketing, Communications and Partnership – and Leah Henderson – Senior Development Officer – were jointly awarded for their contributions to the University's 125th Anniversary Committee.

The award recognizes McMaster staff who have made an outstanding contribution to the mission of the University — especially those who go above and beyond the call of duty.

"Each one of these employees deserves to be recognized and celebrated," says President Patrick Deane. "Their tireless efforts throughout the past year are truly remarkable, and their commitment to bettering our campus community is admirable. McMaster is surely a better place thanks to their hard work and dedication."

The 125th Anniversary Committee included members from a number of campus departments, including University Advancement, the Student Success Centre, the President's Office and the McMaster Students Union, among others.

The Student Wellness Team also took home a group award. Formed in 2011, the service has emerged as a provincial and national leader in collaborative care for students, particularly those affected by mental illness. Members of the team are active and leading volunteers within their professional organizations, including: the Ontario Medical Association, the Canadian University Counseling Centres Association and the Ontario University and College Health Association.
