The McMaster baseball team started the 2012 season in fine fashion by beating the defending OUA champion Toronto Varsity Blues 4-2 in Toronto.
McMaster’s starting pitcher Carlos Cabrero went 7.1 strong innings, scattering four hits to pick up the win. Tomas Rincon came on in relief with one out in the bottom of the 8
th inning and closed things out over the last inning and two-thirds to get the save.
The Marauders broke open a 2-2 tie in the top of the 8
th inning, getting key RBI’s from Cameron Ryerson and Cole Lewis to grab the two-run lead.
McMaster will play this weekend in the OUA kick-off tournament, and has its home opener on September 12
th vs. Queen’s at Bernie Arbour Stadium. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
