Waterloo, Ont. - The McMaster Marauders men's rugby team defeated the Laurier Golden Hawks on the road on Friday night by a score of 35-12.
Just seven minutes into the game, McMaster scored their first try from third-year Davor Stojanov (Stoney Creek, Ont.). Rookie Craig Leveridge (Oakville, Ont.) would make the convert for the seven points. Later in the first half, James Leveridge (Oakville, Ont.) and Cameron Stones (Whitby, Ont.) and J. Leveridge would make both converts for a 21-0 lead.
In the second half, Laurier got on the board with a try from Andrew Thomson (Pickering, Ont.) with the convert from Scott Brown (Truro, NS). The only other Golden Hawk to get on the board was Jeff Dinsmore (Waterloo, Ont.) with a try of his own.
Late, near the end of the game, the Marauders would score two more trys and two more converts to cap off the win. Exchange student Joseph Ross (Sydney, Australia) and rookie Richard Ormrod (Gormley, Ont.) scored the tries for McMaster and C. Leveridge would connect for both converts for a final score of 35-12.
The Marauders are finally back home on Back Ten Field to host the Toronto Varsity Blues on October 5 at 3pm.
