Kingston, Ont. - The McMaster men's rugby team captured their first win of the season over the RMC Paladins on Saturday afternoon. On the road, the Marauders earned the win by a score of 39-19.
The first half saw McMaster only give up one try, from RMC's Aaron Barry (Uxbridge, Ont.), and one convert, from Paladin Jaemok Lee (Qualicum Beach, BC), and they would score 20 points of their own. Tries came from Ryan Fried (New Hamburg, Ont.) and Davor Stojanov (Stoney Creek, Ont.). Andrew Ferguson (Mississauga, Ont.) would make the convert on both, as well as score two penalty goals.
In the second half, the Marauders would outscore RMC 19-12 to secure the win. Ferguson would score two tries and two converts and Fried would tally his second try of the game. Ferguson ended the game with a total of 25 points for a game high.
Scoring the RMC in the second half was two tries from Riley Saliken (Abbotsford, BC) and a convert from Lee.
The Marauders head to St. Catharines on Saturday, September 22 to take on the Brock Badgers at 1pm.
