MCMASTER FOOTBALL TEAM HEADS TO NATION’S CAPITAL

Carrying the mantle of “top-ranked team in Canada” with them, the McMaster Marauders head to Ottawa to play the dangerous Ottawa Gee-Gees in Week-3 of the OUA schedule.

Usually a top contender, the Gee-Gees have gotten off to a slow start in 2012, and are looking for their first win, after losing on the road to Windsor and York.   While this is Ottawa’s home opener, the team will be playing at Beckwith Park Stadium in South Carleton, while a new on-campus facility is under construction.

Despite the change of venue, expectations are for the Gee-Gee fan base to travel to the team’s temporary quarters and provide a comfortable atmosphere for the home team.

McMaster will be playing its second straight game on the road, and Coach Stef Ptaszek knows that despite their record, the Gee-Gees have a talented line-up.  “The Gee-Gees are a very dangerous football team. They have a very athletic roster, and they run the most unique offensive, defensive and special teams systems in the conference,” said Ptaszek. “The film suggests they are on the verge of a breakthrough. Our task is to ensure that breakthrough is still a week or two away.”

The game has a 1-pm kick-off.

A live stream of the game is available online at SSN Canada.

The radio broadcast can be heard on AM900 CHML and online at 900chml.com.

The game will also be televised on Hamilton’s Cable 14, on a tape-delay with the telecast to start at 8-pm.
