MCMASTER MEN'S BASKETBALL TO CLASH WITH LANCERS

The McMaster men’s basketball team will be looking to earn a berth in the OUA final-four, when it takes on the Windsor Lancers in a West Division semi-final on Saturday, February 25, 2012. Tip-off in the Burridge Gym is set for 2 p.m.

The Marauders enter Saturday’s contest after getting a bye into the division semi-finals as a result of finishing second (17 and 5) in the OUA West. Windsor, which finished in 4th place (15-7), won a quarter-final game at home on Wednesday night over Brock 88-80.

In head to head play, the Lancers have been a tough match-up for the Marauders winning both games in league play, including a 78-64 result in Windsor and a hard fought 78-74 decision in Hamilton.

It’s always a homecoming of sorts for Lancer coach Chris Oliver, who got his CIS coaching career started as an assistant on the Marauder staff, while still a student at McMaster.

Marauder coach Amos Connolly has done a great job in his second season, guiding a young Mac squad to a second place finish in the tough OUA West.

The winner of Saturday’s game will advance to the OUA final-four being held at the University of Waterloo, March 2 & 3, 2012. In the other OUA West semi-final, the upstart Guelph Gryphons travel to Thunder Bay to play first-place Lakehead.
