Guelph, Ont. - The McMaster men's basketball team took down the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday afternoon for their 15th win of the season. Rookie Joe Rocca scored a team-high 27 points in the win.
The home team outscored the Marauders in the first 17-15, but in the following quarter, McMaster would take the lead scoring another 22. The battle continued in the third and in the fourth, the Marauders scored 29 points to Guelph's 25 for the final score of 87-79 in favour of McMaster.
Rocca's 27 points were accompanied by 19 from fellow rookie Aaron Redpath. Cam Michaud scored 15 points and added six rebounds and point guard Adam Presutti scored 12 more with six assists.
For the Gryphons, Dan McCarthy recorded a game-high 31 points. The only other Gyrphon to get in double digits was Kareem Malcolm with 17.
The Marauders travel to London on Wednesday night to face the Western Mustangs in their second match-up of the season.
