MARAUDERS SHUT OUT WARRIORS, 34-0

Hamilton, Ont. - The McMaster men's rugby team earned their second win of the 2011 season over the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday afternoon, shutting them out with a score of 34-0.

Waterloo put the pressure on in opening part of the first half. Two big scoring chances would arise for the Warriors but they would not be able to capitalize on the opportunity.

After settling in to the pace of the game, the Marauder's first scoring chance would come 15 minutes into the match. Cam Stones (Whitby, Ont.) would strike first for McMaster but Andrew Ferguson (Mississauga, Ont.) would be unable to put the ball through the posts for the convert.

McMaster's second try of the match was scored by Ryan Fried (New Hamburg, Ont.) and Ferguson would earn the extra two points.

Nearing the end of the first, the Marauders would dominate the Warriors in their end. Two more tries would be scored by McMaster, one coming from Grant Schneider (Oakville, Ont.) and the other coming from Michael Sheppard (Brampton, Ont.). Both converts would be missed.

In the second, McMaster's Lawson Mann (Stouffville, Ont.) would score another try for the Marauders on a breakaway run and Ferguson would score the convert.

Despite Waterloo's best efforts to get on the scoreboard late in the second half, McMaster's Stones would earn his second try of the match. The Marauders would win it with a score of 34-0.

The McMaster men's rugby team has a bye week before traveling to Kingston, Ont. to take on the Queen's Gaels on Sept. 24.
