MARAUDERS CONTINUE PRESEASON WIN STREAK BY TAKING DOWN GANNON UNIVERSITY

Hamilton, Ont. - The McMaster men's basketball team added another W to the win column tonight at Burridge Gymnasium, keeping their 2011-12 home record perfect thus far. The Marauders hosted the Gannon University Golden Knights and beat them by a score of 78-72.

The Marauders led from start to finish in the win. The first quarter was very even with the Marauders leading 22-18 on a long three right at the buzzer. McMaster built up a double-digit lead in the second quarter but could not keep it up as the Knights continued to have a presence in the game. The first half ended with the Marauders ahead 39-30.

The Marauder lead increased in the third quarter and remained in double digits until the last three minutes of the game. The Knights got the gap down to 2 at 71-69 with 1:42 left, however, some fine free throw shooting from the Marauders put the game out of reach. The final score was McMaster 78, Gannon 72.

For the Marauders, Cam Michaud (Grimsby, Ont.) was top scorer with 17 points and he also grabbed 9 rebounds. Victor Raso (Hamilton, Ont.) scored 13, Joe Rocca (Sarnia, Ont.) had 12 and Nathan McCarthy (Burlington, Ont.) had another 10 for the Marauders. For the Knights, Tanner Furno (Columbus, OH) led all scorers with 19 points. Oscar Macias (Cicero, IL) had another 13 points.

Next up for the Marauders men's basketball team is a game at home against A Team Hoops Senior Men on October 14 at 8pm.
