Thrust into the role of McMaster’s defensive centre and veteran leader, Zutautas shone in leading the Marauders to victory Friday over the Toronto Varsity Blues.

The fourth-year senior moved from her usual position as a spot server and defensive specialist to starting libero duties, as Mac closed out their Fall schedule at Burridge Gym. Posting a total of 17 digs, Zutautas answered the bell time and time again, as the Varsity Blues repeatedly attempted to target her in the reception pattern and on the attack.

Zutautas’ stout defence and on-court leadership helped a young Marauders lineup out-last the Blues, en route to a four-set win and a 6-1 record in conference play entering the exam and holiday break.
