Facing a must-win situation after a midweek loss, Maila Carboni did her part to lift the Marauders to a 2-0 win over the Brock Badgers, which kept McMaster in the hunt for the final playoff spot in the OUA West with just two games left to play.
Following a humbling 3-0 loss at Guelph Wednesday, Mac had 11 points and sat behind both Brock and York for the sixth and final playoff seed in the OUA West.
But Carboni and the Marauders came through when needed Sunday, as the fourth-year forward eventually turned her game high five shots, and three on target, into a goal in the 53rd minute, breaking the deadlock at Ron Joyce Stadium.
17 minutes later, she provided the final pass as teammate Ally Riganelli tucked Mac’s second goal away and sealed three crucial points for the Marauders.
