The first-year Engineering student followed an exceptional debut meet in Buffalo a week ago with an even stronger showing in brutally challenging conditions at the Western International Saturday.

With the London area, and much of Southern Ontario, suffering through a heat warning, Turek ran the eight kilometre course in 25:21 to score fourth overall and pace the U SPORTS no. 5-ranked Marauders men to a team title.

He ran alongside 2016 U SPORTS All-Canadian teammate Jeff Tweedle throughout the race, and finished officially one second ahead of the veteran.
