McMaster Experience: 34th season (1989 - present)
A three-time winner of the OUA championship, Tim Louks has spent 33 seasons at the helm of the McMaster women's volleyball program.
Arriving on campus as a player in 1978, Louks has been a constant presence on the volleyball landscape of the Greater Hamilton Area.
A two-time team MVP as a player, Louks moved into the coaching ranks after graduation, starting a long coaching tenure that began with the McMaster men’s team, where he served as head coach for three seasons. He then moved over to the Marauders women’s program, assuming the head coaching position with the women’s team in 1989.
Coach Louks guided McMaster to their first-ever OUA Championship in 2007-08, and has since added a second (2013-14) and third (2016-17) title to the program’s collection.
He also took the lead on McMaster becoming the host of the 2012 CIS Women’s Volleyball Championship; the first time since 1996 that the event had returned to Ontario.
A six-time recipient of the OUA Coach of the Year Award, Louks has seen many individual accolades bestowed on his Marauders to go along with team successes.
Under his watch McMaster has seen over 44 OUA all-stars, five OUA Rookies of the Year, two recipients of the OUA Award of Merit, four Marauders have been named CIS All-Canadians, and one was awarded the Therésè Quigley Award for combining athletics, academics and community service.
Louks is one of a select group that has both played (1979) and coached (2008, 2012 and 2017) in the national tournament.
