Liz Nabi

Liz Nabi is a registered social worker (MSW, RSW) and is a Counsellor at McMaster University's Student Wellness Centre. Liz began serving in the role of Counsellor for McMaster student-athletes in October 2025, and works to ensure all Marauders have a welcoming, safe place to come and talk.

Over her career, Liz has trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities, such as: Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy.  She has experience working in a number of different clinical areas, such as trauma and addictions, as well as children and adolescent mental health. She takes a client-centred approach and often uses self compassion and mindfulness as ways to support students in improving their mental wellness. 

Liz was a competitive high school athlete in rowing and cross country, where she competed in both provincial and national championships.  She attended Queen’s University and completed a degree in Physical Health and Education concurrently with a degree in Psychology (Honours). She then went on to obtain a Master of Social Work degree at Wilfrid Laurier University, and has been practicing counselling and psychotherapy for over 15 years.
