Anthony Costa

  • Title
    Women's Soccer Head Coach
After two seasons as an assistant on the Marauders women's soccer staff, Anthony Costa was named as the program's head coach on June 4, 2019.

A five-year student-athlete with the Marauders between 2007 and 2012, Costa helped McMaster to OUA titles in 2009 and 2011 and received the Dr. Ray Johnson Award as the University’s outstanding graduating male athlete.

He was named as a CIS First Team All-Canadian in his final season in 2011 as well as a First Team OUA All-Star, and was a finalist for McMaster’s Ivor Wynne Award, which recognizes the University’s male athlete of the year.

His success at the CIS level led Costa to receive an invitation to the United Soccer League (USL) Combine.

Since his graduation, he has served as an assistant coach on the McMaster men’s staff, under the direction of his former coach Dino Perri, and was named to the women’s staff in 2017 when Valvasori took the reins as head coach.

A high school teacher at Oakville’s St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Secondary School, Costa coaches at both the high school and club levels. He is currently the head coach of a boys ‘A’ level club in Oakville, and an assistant coach of the Hamilton United (League 1) program’s reserve team.
