Jon Brown

Jon Brown (he/him) B.P.H.E., CSCS 

(2022-23) Jon is entering his 8th year as the Performance Coach for the football team and 7th year for the rugby teams at McMaster. Over his years at McMaster Jon has been an integral part in the development of volunteer student coach development. He also worked closely  designing, ordering, and installing the new High Performance Area. Jon looks forward to continuing to develop McMaster Performance's student coach experiential learning experience. 

 
Born in Toronto, Jon played almost every sport under the sun as a child and throughout his youth. Excelling in power based sports like rugby, football and basketball which he played at the club and rep levels. He completed his undergrad at Laurentian University in Sport and Physical Education in 2013. Throughout his time at Laurentian Jon worked as a student intern assisting in the training of many varsity teams. After University Jon traveled to Birmingham, Alabama where he did an internship with the NCAA Div I school Samford University. At Samford, Jon worked closely with the football, basketball, soccer, softball and track teams. After Samford, Jon completed another internship at McMaster before he was hired to take over the football program. During that time, Jon was also hired as the head strength & conditioning coach for the Hamilton Bulldogs OHL team, where he led the program for two years before being brought on full time at McMaster. 
 
Jon’s multi-sport background has allowed him to work with a large range of athletes over the years at a variety of levels. Jon has experience working with national and collegiate teams, OHL, AHL, SHL, NHL and private sector athletes. His most recent experience is getting to train athletes over the course of a quad and watching them achieve their dream of winning gold at the 2022 Beijing Olympics with the Hockey Canada Senior Women’s team.
