John Parkes arrived at McMaster in 2018. During his time with the Marauder football program, he has taken on many roles as a full-time member of the coaching staff. In 2022, Parkes held the title of Offensive Coordinator and in 2023, will return to his past role of Director of Football Operations. He will also assist with the offense this year as an Offensive Quality Coordinator. 

He has over 20 years of coaching experience at various levels of minor and varsity football across the province. Parkes spent seven seasons (2011-2017) on staff with the Peterborough Wolverines and was the Head Coach of the senior varsity team for the last four of those years. With a background in wellness and holistic coaching, Parkes also served as the Special Teams Coordinator at Peterborough’s Crestwood Secondary School.

In addition to his involvement with the Marauders, Parkes has represented McMaster as the Offensive Coordinator of Team Ontario’s U18 Women’s Team. In 2022, the team played to a 4^th place finish in Regina (2022) and this past July, captured a bronze medal against Saskatchewan in 2023. This experience has been key to his continual development as a coach.
