Born and raised in Hamilton, Dr.Robinson obtained both his Kinesiology and Medical degrees at McMaster University. He obtained his Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine in 2010 and joined the Braley Centre staff full time in August 2011. Prior to this he was a family doctor in Stoney Creek for 18 years. He remains an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster.

Since 1999 he has been Team Physician to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. He is also a Team Physician to the McMaster Football team.
In addition to looking after McMaster athletes, Dr.Robinson is happy to look after community athletes of all ages. He himself is an avid hockey player and runner. Â
