1. Basic Policies |
|
Please follow these basic rules while using the David Braley Athletic Centre and Ivor Wynne Centre. Other rules applicable to a specific area are posted throughout the building and must be followed.
1. All visitors should report into the Joan Buddle Service Desk. Service Staff may ask you to present proper ID. You may be asked to leave the building if you fail to provide the proper identification or proof of membership.
2. Recreation members may keep articles locked in temporary day lockers only during period of facility use (rental lockers excepted). Lockers left overnight with locks attached will have their locks removed and contents will be secured by staff. There is a fee to retrieve secured articles. Management is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen personal property.
3. Guests are welcome to use the David Braley Athletics and Recreation Centre but must be sponsored by a current member to purchase guest passes. Guest fee payments are made at the Service Desk.
4. Facility use privileges are non-transferable. Recreation/Pulse memberships are for use by purchasing member only. If a non-member is found fraudulently using a membership, both member and non-member will lose current and future membership privileges.
5. All personal belongings must be removed from baskets or rented lockers by the expiry date of your service. Any and all articles left behind are assumed unwanted by their owner and will be disposed of after two months in accordance with University policy regarding lost and found articles.
6. It is important that participants wear appropriate foot wear when participating in the different activity areas within the DBAC. "Street Wear" shoes are not allowed in indoor play areas.
7. Inappropriate behaviour such as swearing, physical or verbal abuse will result in the immediate loss of all current and future membership privileges.

2. General |
|
The Athletic and Recreation Facilities include the Ivor Wynne Centre, the David Braley Athletic Centre, the Ron Joyce Stadium, and all surrounding areas known as the Athletic Outdoor Venues. |

3. Administration |
The allocation of space and dates will be administered by the Director of Athletics and Recreation or his/her delegate.
The Burridge Gym of the IWC is designated as the University’s Evacuation site in the event of a crisis, and therefore a University crisis will superseded any events being held at the time. |

4. Regulations For The Use A&R Facilities (During the Academic Term) |
A. Priorities (in the order listed below)
1. Varsity Athletics (Intercollegiate Athletics)
2. Intramural Athletics
3. Department of A&R programs (clubs, clinics, recreational time, etc.)
4. Major University events (University examinations in the IWC only, Bay Area Science & Engineering Fair, McMaster Children’s Party, Career Fair, Football Gala, etc.)
5. Student, faculty and staff recreational and social programs
6. Outside organizations (secondary schools, community colleges, national teams, etc.)
B. Major University events that repeat from year to year, should be scheduled at least one year in advance. This assumes that minor adjustments may be made if required.
C. Requests for use of A&R Facilities from September to April should be submitted as soon as possible and no later than April 30th. This will allow allocation in May of dates in accordance with the priority list. However, these requests will be allotted on an “as available” basis. |

5. Regulations For Use Of A&R Facilities (Outside The Academic Term) |
A. Priorities
1. Department of A&R programs (summer camps)
2. Major University events
3. Conferences and Conventions
4. Student, faculty and staff recreational and social programs
5. Outside organizations (secondary schools, community colleges, national teams, etc.) |

6. Conference & Event Services |
A. Requests for space that is not of an athletic nature is to be submitted to Conference & Event Services who will coordinate and arrange through Athletics & Recreation. Conference & Event Services will not request use of the A&R Facilities for outside agencies interested in promoting commercial entertainments.
B. This should not, however, be construed in such a way as to prohibit occasional rental of the facilities to outside agencies interested in promoting community or conference events (e.g. choral festival, sports attraction, trade show, cultural event). |

7. McMaster Students Union Inc. |
A. No student organization other than the MSU will have access to the complex for purposes of holding licensed functions where alcohol is served.
B. The MSU may have access to the complex at the discretion of the Director of Athletics and Recreation for purposes of holding licensed pubs, concerts and presenting public lectures, etc. The facility bookings and physical set up requirements will be made directly with Conference & Event Services. In cases where the MSU promotes an event on its own account with the participation of outside organizations, companies, promoters or the like, charges for the use of the facilities will be restricted to out-of-pocket university expenses for cleaning, security, etc. and a ten per cent (10%) administrative service fee applied to the total of billings for these expenses processed by Conference & Event Services. In cases where the MSU works in conjunction with outside promotional organizations, companies, promoters, or the like, an additional rental fee will be payable to the Department of Athletics and Recreation through Conference & Event Services. This rental fee will be determined by the Director of Athletics and Recreation or his/her designate. The fees involved will be reviewed annually.
C. Conference Services will not request use of the complex for outside agencies interested in promoting commercial entertainments. This should not, however, be construed in such a way as to prohibit occasional rental of the facilities to outside agencies interested in promoting community or conference events ( E.g. Choral festival, sports attraction, trade show or cultural events).
D. In scheduling commercial entertainment or pubs, the Department of Athletics and Recreation and Conference & Event Services will have regard for the interests of the MSU as the sole student organization holding pubs or commercial entertainment in the complex and, where appropriate, communicate their intentions to the MSU President. |
