Fitness Instructor Specialist - Canfitpro
This is a comprehensive 25-hour course that will increase your knowledge and confidence level to lead a group fitness class to music over two weekends. Topics include: aspects of fitness, fitness theory: skeletal, muscular, neurological, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems, Kinesiology/Anatomy in action and bioenergetics, components of fitness class from the warm-up to the cool-down, musicality: phrasing, cueing and appropriate music selection, leadership and motivational skills, special populations and injuries. CSEP - Certified Personal Trainer Workshop
A CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer (CSEP-CPT) is an Associate Member of the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology and stands as the industry leading personal training certification. Materials that will be covered in the workshop are personal and lifestyle characteristics of clients, motivational techniques to increase client adherence, basic theory and methods of health-related physical fitness appraisal, basic physical activity/exercise prescription and program design, client observation and exercise modification, safety, injury prevention and emergency procedures, administration documentation and professionalism. Pre-requisites – Current CPR level C and First Aid. A partial course is available to anyone who has completed KIN 4MM3. Next course TBA.
Personal Trainer Specialist - Canfitpro
This is a comprehensive 25-hour course that will increase your knowledge and confidence level to train clients in a one-on-one or small group (2-3 people) settings. Topics include: aspects of fitness theory, fitness wellness and basic training, components of a Kinesiology/Anatomy, special populations, nutritional counseling, and business skills for success as a personal trainer. CPR is not required to take this course. Next course at DBAC runs Oct 16-18 2015. Register online or in person at the Recreation Business Office.
Fitness Educators - Cycle ONE Certification
This two-part session provides you with the foundations of knowledge, principles, practice and certificate to start instructing in a 1-day workshop. Part 1 – Cycle Foundations covers the physiology, biomechanics, psychology and motivational techniques for indoor cycling. In this session, we includes safety guidelines for set-up and class structure, two hours of interactive and practical training along with an interactive ride segments and a master class that will help you combine the information and experience. Part 2 – Interval and Entertainment Techniques helps you to creatively and safely add drills, skills and fun in to your group cycle formats. In this session, we will be reviewing safety and set up along with technique with cuing and motivation strategies. From there, we build to add to your repertoire with interval, pro techniques, games and interactive drills and ideas. Next offering TBA.
