Marauders Fall to Ravens in OUA Quarterfinals

OTTAWA, Ont. – The McMaster Marauders' playoff run came to an end on Saturday night as they fell 98-45 to the undefeated Carleton Ravens in the OUA Quarterfinals at the Ravens' Nest.

The Marauders (14-10) struggled to find their rhythm early, as Carleton's defensive pressure limited McMaster's scoring opportunities. The Ravens stormed out to a 27-9 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. McMaster shot just 23.5 per cent from the field and 21.9 per cent from three-point range, while Carleton capitalized on their chances, shooting 51.3 per cent overall and 46.9 per cent from beyond the arc.

Sophia Urosevic (Kitchener, Ont.) led McMaster with 17 points, including five three-pointers. Emily Frankovic (Thornhill, Ont.) added 10 points and one steal, while Deanna Mataseje (Ancaster, Ont.) contributed seven points and three steals.

McMaster's best stretch came in the third quarter when they outscored their first-half total, putting up 21 points behind a trio of three-pointers from Urosevic. However, the Ravens responded with 31 points in the frame to maintain control..

The Marauders struggled on the glass, outrebounded 54-21, which led to Carleton's 22 second-chance points. Turnovers also proved costly, with McMaster conceding 19 points off their 12 turnovers.

With the loss, McMaster concludes its season after a competitive campaign in the OUA. Despite the result, the Marauders demonstrated resilience and will look to build on this experience heading into next season.
