SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - The McMaster women's basketball team never trailed in a contest with the Algoma Thunderbirds, securing a dominant 84-49 road victory.
McMaster took a quick 10-4 lead to open the game but Algoma battled back to make the score 18-13 in favour of the Marauders after the first quarter.
The second stanza was more of the same from the Marauders who shot 47% from the field, including two from outside the arc, while holding the Thunderbirds to just six points. The visitors led 43-19 at the halftime break.
McMaster had an impressive quarter of play in the third, putting up 22 points and recording 12 rebounds. The Marauders maintained the advantage after 30 minutes of play - 65-35.
The Thunderbirds held the Marauders to 19 points in the final quarter, but the road team never relinquished its lead, taking the game by an 84-49 final.
Amy Stinson led the way for the Marauders with a double-double, tallying 13 points and 10 rebounds in the contest while also contributing a steal. Bench points were the difference maker for McMaster who recorded 43 points from players outside of the starting lineup.
Jordan Denkers recorded 12 points while
Sophia Urosevic added 11 points in their 40 minutes of combined play.

The Marauders will now shift their focus to this Friday's road contest with the Waterloo Warriors before returning to Burridge Gymnasium on Saturday for a match-up with the Brock Badgers.
