Marauders Defeat Laurier in 3-2 Come Back on the Road

HAMILTON – The Marauders defeated the Golden Hawks on Friday night in a tight 3-2 comeback on the road. Two Marauders earned their first OUA career goals last night as this game brings McMaster to a 4-0-2 record, and they remain undefeated after their first six games of the season.

McMaster opened the score early on Friday night with a goal by Alena Spehar, earning her eighth goal this fall. Before the end of the first half, Laurier was able to come back to tie the score at 1-1 with a goal from Jyanessa Sealy. Closing out the first 45 minutes of the game, McMaster outshot Laurier 4 to 2, keeping the game under control.

Early in the second half, the Golden Hawks scored their second goal, bringing them up to a 2-1 lead. The Marauders remained composed, fighting back against Laurier's burst of offense in the latter half of the game. The Golden Hawks outshot the Marauders 8 to 4 in the last 45 minutes, putting McMaster's keeper Ali Mudie to the test. First year Ravina Braich helped the away team tie the game in the 77th minute, posting her first career goal as a Marauder. McMaster started rolling with their offense late in the game, earning two corner kicks taken by Ignacia Jimenez with less than 10 minutes left on the clock. The game was looking like a draw for the two teams until first year Ravina Braich came through with a final goal for McMaster, earning a win for the away team with a score of 3-2 and Braich's first two career goals.
