Marauders bury Badgers, 77-60

For the first time in the season, the McMaster Marauders men's basketball team faced off against the Brock Badgers. The Marauders buried them after a second-quarter surge, 77-60.

Daniel Graham led the Marauders with 18 points, off the bench, and Mike Demagus contributed 17 with six rebounds and three assists.

Despite dominating on offence, it was the defence that enabled the Marauders to run with the game. Moody Qasim played the glass with seven defensive rebounds, three steals, and seven points.

McMaster built up a 42-3- halftime lead behind seven points from Tyrelle Miller, who knocked down every shot he took during the opening two periods. Miller also dished four assists and swiped 3 steals. The second quarter was a surge for the Marauders, outscoring the Badgers 20-9.

The third was a lead-stretching quarter. A Demagus dunk found the Marauders a 15-point lead with 8 minutes remaining in the quarter. From there the Marauders continued to stunt the Badgers.

McMaster only added to the lead in the second half, holding as much as a 23-point advantage over the Badgers as the half progressed.

The Marauders shot the lights out from field range, shooting 47.6% on 63 attempts. Mac also found nine 3-point makes, and 8-11 from the free throw line.

The Badgers shot just 38.2% from the field as a team on the night and turned the ball over 24 times. The Marauders grabbed the real estate with 23 points off of turnovers.

The McMaster Marauders held the Badgers to 60 points when they're a squad that averages 70+. Keeping their food on the gas the full night, it was clear to see that the Marauders were hungry tonight.

"The guys played very hard today. You asked what I liked… I liked that we forced 24 turnovers. [...]. The guys woke up and just came to compete today." said head coach Patrick Tatum, in a post-game interview.
