NG, DROVER NAMED MARAUDERS ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

For the week ending March 6, 2022, Talia Ng of the McMaster Marauders badminton team, and Alex Drover of the distance track team have been named Marauders Athletes of the Week, presented by Fortinos.

Over the weekend, the Marauders badminton team took part in the OUA Badminton Championships hosted by the Waterloo Warriors. Ng, the 2020 Rookie of the Year was dominant in her performance as always, helping lift the Marauders up to a 6th place finish at the championship. Not dropping a single match in the championships, the women's team were the scoring faction of the team as Talia went undefeated in competition earning her an OUA all-star selection, and being the named the OUA Championships Most Valuable Player - the first female Marauder to receive the award since its inception in 2003.

Alex Drover
Fourth-year | Master's - Engineering Design | Kingston, Ont.

Competing at the Don Wright Team Challenge hosted by the Western Mustangs over the weekend, Drover pulled away from the pack in the men's 1500m hanging with the pacers to cross the finish line in a personal best time of 3:48.34. His time also surpasses the U SPORTS auto-qualifying time of 3:51.24, garaunteeing him a spot in the event at nationals in three weeks time - an event he's currently ranked 5th in.
