Box Score The McMaster Marauders men's basketball team fell short to the Windsor Lancers at home on Wednesday evening, 84-87.
Third-year guard, Jordan Henry, led the Marauders in multiple stats with 18 points, four steals, eight assists, and six rebounds. While forward, Nick Fambegbe, stacked 12 points, six rebounds, and two steals in his 19 minutes of play.
The Marauders led by as many as 10 in the fourth, but the lead disappeared with under two minutes of play. With 2:31 left on the clock, Jordan Henry put up a crucial jumper to keep the Marauders alive. The bucket was responded with a layup from Telloy Simons of Windsor, directly followed by a three-pointer by Simons.
Henry laid another jumper, which gave the Marauders hope, but with less than 10 seconds to go Windsor knocked down a free throw and sealed the game.
Opening the game, 20-seconds in, Ares Culley-Bremner sunk a jumper, which was the last time the Marauders saw the lead until the second quarter. The team kept up with the Lancers, putting down 15 to compete with their 18 points.
Halfway through the second, the Marauders went on an eight-point run to bounce back and regain the lead, at 25-24. The lead was held until the Lancers put up a basket to tie the score at 38-38, which ended the first half.
The third quarter was action-packed, with the Marauders gaining some ground outscoring the Lancers 30-23 in the frame. Both teams respectively grabbed nine rebounds, and switched lead change on one occassion each. The men in Maroon clutched a 60% shooting average from field goal range, knocking down four three-pointers, two of which came from second-year guard Mike Demagus - but the win would prove out of reach.
With an updated record of 7-4, the squad looks for redemption on the road at Windsor on Saturday evening. Tip-off is set for 4pm.
