Marauder women to battle York Lions and Queen’s Gaels in home-opener weekend

HAMILTON, Ont. –  The Marauder women faced a tough start to the OUA regular season after losses to the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Carleton Ravens. McMaster will look to switch the momentum as they get ready to battle the York Lions Friday at 6pm, and then face the Queen's Gaels Sunday at 1pm in their home-opener weekend.

November 11th, 2022 @ 6pm

McMaster and York have not faced each other since the 2019-20 season. In their first matchup, the Marauders lost a tight game 84-91 in overtime. In their second competition, the Marauders beat the Lions 76-68. In a tight game against the Ottawa Gee-Gees this weekend, the Marauders came up just short after Ottawa scored with three seconds on the clock to end the game 68-66. McMaster then went on to play the Carleton Ravens that ended in a 57-73 defeat. The Lions are also coming off of back-to-back losses to the Carleton Ravens (57-69) and then to the Ottawa Gee-Gees (55-74). After a difficult start to the regular season, the Marauder women are hungry for a win.

After taking on the Lions Friday at 6pm, McMaster will remain at home to protect Burridge Gymnasium from the Queen's Gaels on Sunday at 1pm.

Teammates Jenna Button (Dundas, Ont.) and Cassie Joli-Coeur (Johnstown, Ont.) scored 13 and 12 points respectively against the Gee-Gees. The Queen's Gaels are coming off of back-to-back wins after beating the Laurentian Voyageurs 68-52 and dropping the Nipissing Lakers 81-41.
