The McMaster Marauders men's basketball team exacted revenge in their second straight game against the Lakehead Thunderwolves, 91-80, at home on Saturday evening.
Jordan Henry led all players with 32 points in his 31 minutes of action, while also putting down five assists. While second-year, Mike Demangus raked up 14 points for the team and an impressive seven rebounds.
With the upset of their previous match, the squad came out hungry for the win, and win they did.
The first quarter was off to a slow start with both teams knocking up shots back and fourth.
Towards the end of the quarter things started to heat up and with one minute left, the third year guard, Tristan Lindo, sunk two free throws to tie the match 22-22. Responding the Thunderwolves put up a jump shot with 15 seconds remaining in the first, and that was the last time the teams were tied. The Marauders capitalized in the second quarter, taking the lead and holding on to it for the remainder of the match.
The men in Maroon played a defensive second quarter and held Lakewood to a 27.78 shooting percentage from the field-goal range. This accompanied with the 22 points the Marauders snuck away in the second set them off with the right footing to start the second half.
The remaining two quarters consisted of some back and fourth basketball, while the Marauders continued to clench the lead.
Henry, however, was hitting buckets upon buckets after putting up three 3-pointers and a layup within the span of two minutes late in the fourth. Henry's run lit up Burridge and nailed in the win for the team.
The Marauders men will hit the road to face off against the Guelph Gryphons on Wednesday where tip off is set for 8pm.
