The OUA Champion McMaster Marauders curling team travelled to Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, last week to compete at the 2020 U SPORTS Curling championships. Battling it out with the best over the course of five days, the squad finished fourth overall on the national stage.
Â
The team opened the tournament with three straight victories, dropping the Dalhousie Tigers 12-4, the Brandon Bobcats 7-4, and the Queen's Gaels 6-5. After a trio of losses to the Regina Cougars, Alberta Pandas, and UNB Reds, the Marauders closed out the round robin stage with a 7-6 victory, securing the fourth seed heading into the playoff round.
In the semi-finals, the squad fell to the eventual champions, the Pandas, 8-4, and the Queen's Gaels, 7-5, in the bronze medal match.
Marauders second,
Grace Lloyd, was named a first-team all-Canadian for her stellar effort throughout the championships.
