PREVIEW: MARAUDERS PLAY FINAL REGULAR SEASON HOME GAME AGAINST LIONS

Coming into the weekend for their final regular season home game, the red hot McMaster Marauders women's basketball team welcomes divisional rivals, the York Lions, to the Burridge Gym on Saturday afternoon.

History
 
The two sides met earlier this season in January, with the game needing overtime to decide a winner. Four Marauders fouled out by the end of regulation as Julia Hanaka knocked down two three-pointers to keep the Marauders in it, but the Lions eventually pulled away 91-84. Sarah Gates led her team with 28 points and four steals.

  • The Marauders have been on a roll, winning four of their last five games, including three ranked opponents then No. 6 Windsor Lancers, No. 6 Queen's Gaels, and more recently No. 4 Ryerson Rams on Wednesday.
  • The Marauders continue to be one of the league's premier teams in steals, averaging an OUA second best 11.6 steals per game.
  • Extra possessions on steals have led to more shots for the squad who rank third in the OUA in field goal, and shot attempts per game with 72.7 and 28.3, respectively.

  • Before falling to the Brock Badgers 73-55 on Wednesday, the Lions had gone on a five-game winning streak to open the new year.
  • Expect the Lions to crash the boards and out battle their opponents, as they currently rank fourth in the OUA in rebounding margin, grabbing an average 7.6 more per game.
  • Currently tied on records with the Marauders, the Lions have struggled to find success on the road, only winning two of their eight games in hostile territory.

F Lauren Golding – Currently ranked second in the OUA in rebounds per game with 10.8. One of two players in the league averaging a double-double, also averaging 15.6 points.
 
F Megan MacLeod – One of two players on Lions roster to have started every game this season. Currently averaging a career-high 13.4 points per game on 44% shooting.
