In a matchup that featured 13 Marauders in action, the McMaster women's volleyball team made quick work of the Trent Excalibur, dropping them in straight sets 3-0 at home on Saturday evening.
Kamila Haase and Brenna Peacock led the way for the homeside, contributing 11 points each – a game-high total. Haase was particularly effective on the serve, going on a run of seven straight serves leading to three kill's and an ace to take the first set 25-13.
Peacock made her mark in the second going for three straight service aces, and eventually dropping a total of four – the Excalibur could not contain her. Holding the visitors to just eight points in the second set, Marauders setter Nikolina Malic closed things out with one of her game-high six service aces. Nikolina also contributed 30 assists in the three-set victory.
Ultimately the Marauders were .500 in total attacks, connecting on 37 kills. Fourth-year veterans Jessie Nairn and Hailey Kranics were critical on the defensive end accounting for three solo blocks each.
With the win the Marauders now move into third place in the OUA West division with a 7-5 record, while the Excalibur are tied for sixth in the OUA East with their 10th straight loss.
NEXT UP: The Marauders will hit the road next weekend to take on the Guelph Gryphons and the No. 7 Brock Badgers.
