Learning their lesson of a day earlier, the Marauders were opportunistic in snatching two goals, and three points, from a trip to Waterloo Sunday.
McMaster was out-shot by Laurier in its second game in as many days, but held its opponents off the scoresheet en route to a 2-0 win at University Stadium.
The result saw the Marauders improve to 1-0-1 to conclude the opening weekend of the OUA season, while the Laurier Golden Hawks suffered defeat in their first regular season game.
Directing 24 shots toward the McMaster net, Laurier forced nine saves from
Tristan Joyce, who held firm to record his first clean sheet of 2019.
The Marauders got goals from
Antonio Sereno, who broke the deadlock between the two teams in the 23rd minute, and
Nicholas Matsos, whose 58th-minute goal was his first strike for McMaster.
NEXT UP: McMaster confronts an age-old rival on Thursday, September 5, when the Marauders travel to North York to battle the York Lions. That 8:00 p.m. match will be webcast live on OUA.tv.
