Men's Volleyball: Marauders Ease Past Badgers in Penultimate Match of Regular Season

McMaster stars Matt Passalent and Andrew Richards had 13 and 12 kills respectively

Their stars did the heavy lifting early, before the Marauders bench joined the fray to good effect to close out the Brock Badgers without incident Friday.

McMaster came away from St. Catharines with a 25-17, 25-22, 25-21 win over Brock to improve to 14-2 in OUA play with just one conference match left to be played before the onset of the playoffs.

Assuming their usual spots as the Marauders leading offensive weapons, the veteran combo of right side Matt Passalent and left side Andrew Richards had 13 and 12 kills respectively in the win. Passalent converted 13 of 30 hitting attempts with just a single error (.400) and added a block assist for 13.5 points, while Richards was 12 of 18 with four errors (.444) while adding four block assists for 14 points.

Richards currently sits second in the OUA with a season-long hitting percentage of .325.

Pushing McMaster over the 10 assists per set threshold, setters David Doty and Pearson Stiller combined for 33 assists in the win, with Stiller arriving on the scene in the third set.

On a night that saw their attack purr early and often, the Marauders hit .282 as a group and committed just 11 errors versus 40 kills in the win, while holding the Badgers to a team average of .093.

NEXT UP: McMaster closes the season in Toronto on Sunday, February 24, where the Marauders will battle the Ryerson Rams at 4:00 p.m. That match can be seen live on OUA.tv.
