Women's Volleyball: Marauders Display Depth in Season-Ending Win

Mac carved out time for 14 players in sweep of Trent.

Their playoff position already secure, the Marauders put their depth on display Friday in their regular season closer at Burridge Gym.

McMaster found court time for 14 players across the three uncomplicated sets of their 25-15, 25-11, 25-12 victory over the Trent Excalibur, ending the conference season on a high note.

With the win, the Marauders concluded the regular season schedule with a record of 16-2, and will host an OUA quarterfinal at Burridge Gym on Saturday, March 3.

Hitting .329 as a group in the victory, McMaster spread the offence Friday, with five hitters notching five or more kills.

The co-leading point scorers were right side Rachel Woock (Richmond Hill, ON) and middle Hailey Kranics (Fort Erie, ON), who each had 8.5, with Woock enjoying seven kills and three block assists, while Kranics had five kills, one solo block and five block assists.

Giving their opponents fits from the service line, the Marauders were a plus five at the line, with 10 aces versus five errors as a group, led by setters Michelle Chelladurai (London, ON) and Caitlin Genovy (Stoney Creek, ON) with four and three respectively.

Committing just 11 errors combined through three sets, McMaster was at their most efficient in the second, when they accounted for 14 kills and just two errors on 26 attempts (.462).

NEXT UP: The Marauders will play host to an OUA quarterfinal against the eventual fourth seed in the OUA West on Saturday, March 3 at Burridge Gym. With matches remaining to be played this weekend, that opponent remains to be decided.
