Men's Basketball: Marauders Edged 81-78 By Lancers in Windsor

McMaster remained winless on the road Wednesday.

The McMaster Marauders men's basketball team traveled to Windsor to take on the Lancers in hopes of finding some success on the road, where they have yet to win this season.

In a close-fought game, both on the court and on the scoreboard, the Windsor Lancers managed to have the edge over the Marauders, handing McMaster their twelfth loss of the season in a 81-78 barnburner inside Windsor's St. Denis Centre on Wednesday night.

Miles Seward and Kareem Collins finished the game as the Marauders' co-leaders in points, with matching totals of 18. Fourth-year guard David McCulloch also knocked down double-digit points for the night with 13 of his own, before fouling out late in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile for the Lancers, they finished the game with five players enjoying double-digit point performances.

Marcus Jones was the Lancers' leading scorer against the Marauders, as he shot 7-21 from the field for 18 points.

A fast-paced opening half saw the Lancers enter the dressing rooms at halftime holding onto a 40-37 lead despite trailing the Marauders for the majority of the opening 20 minutes of play.

To go along with the high-tempoed offences in the game, both teams were eager to find their range with a total of 67 three-point shot attempts by game's end. However, just 28 percent managed to find their way in.

The two squads kept things close right up to the final buzzer as neither team managed to make much room for comfort.

Collins hit both of his foul shots to bring the Marauders even with the Lancers with 40 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Lancer Damian Persaud sealed the deal for his team, though, after being fouled on a made layup attempt and completing the three-point play with the foul shot.

The Marauders were not able to make use of the time remaining, as Windsor clung to their edge as time expired.

UP NEXT: The Marauders will take on the Western Mustangs on Saturday, January 20 in London. The Western Mustangs currently sit second in the OUA's West Division with a 9-6 record. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
